20th Anniversary!

20 years ago Jeff and I were married. We chose March kind of hoping for a romantic rainy day. I awoke that morning to a beautiful California sun shiny day. Some of my brides maids had spent the night at my condo and some were arriving so we could get ready together. Jeff was knocking at my door, they told him it was bad luck to see me before the wedding but I let him in. He handed me a velvet box with a beautiful pearl necklace in it and he reminded me how happy he was to be marrying me that day. Later it did cloud up and sprinkle a bit and my Dad said "Martha I think you might get your rain". After a whole lot of photos, tears of joy, vows, with family and friends we were married. As we left for our honeymoon Missy was still crying and holding on to me, I still can't figure out if she was happy or sad for us, we probably should've just brought her with us. In 1999 we renewed our vows and were sealed to our children for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles temple. We celebrated last night with our girls, Jeff made a great steak dinner. Matt called and wished us a Happy Anniversary. We will continue to celebrate this weekend at the Temple and go out for a nice dinner, just the two of us. Marriage and raising kids takes a lot of LOVE and a lot of WORK, we are so thankful for family and dear friends we consider family, we love you, and appreciate all the support you've given us throughout the years.

The Holidays

We enjoyed Christmas with the kids this year. It's so nice to have all 5 of them home. We took it very easy. We did some last minute shopping around town and even saw Santa. Matt and I delivered Christmas for the church to a couple of homes which is always rewarding yet for me I wish I could do more. Matt worked in Sun Valley at the chocolate factory, so he was really one of Santa's helpers and they were very busy up there. He did learn some secret recipes and did their banking etc. Nicole has been home focusing on applying to various universities. Her two girlfriends from high school came home from college and they all stayed up talking until 2-3 am

on several nights so that was great, I know she misses them. Lauren took time away from swim and performed with a caroling group she's in, they caroled at the Ambassador of Spains home for his Christmas party and he gifted them their trip to Disneyland in California where they will perform later in the year. Chloe is doing well in debate, still causing a stir as the class clown in many classes and we are at a loss when we get called in to discuss the matter (any parenting tips on that would be appreciated). Sara did well in 7th grade girls Basketball and will start with a new tournament team next week. I am still watching babies and Jeff is managing to stay busy. We just had a great class in R.S. on organizing your home and without my friend Lisa (she's a pro at organization) I am lost, so this class has motivated me to keep, toss, or donate and I am on a roll so I best get back to it! Fall is in the AIR!

I was prompted by a pushy, friend to update my blog.......and she's a good friend so I suppose I will do what she says. Fall is in the air, homecoming is at the high school this week, lots of floats for the parade, bon-fires and football games. Matt is living in an apt. about 2 hours away and visits home every weekend so far and I hope he keeps coming home but I think as his school work increases and his hours at work increase that wont be the case. Nicole is still far, far away but will be home from Singapore soon to start her Senior year in high school. Lauren is swimming everyday, doing school choir, and enjoys being a sophmore. Chloe is a handful, thin as a rail, maybe our next model? she enjoys school, babysitting, speaking Spanish, and will start tennis soon. Sara (my baby) finally had braces put on, she's likes 7th grade, spending time with her friends and mommy, she misses her bff in CA (Lisa) and she's undecided on a sport this spring yet I am sure she'll ski this winter a lot. I am getting excited for the month long celebration of Halloween to begin, love all my daycare babies, and am just thrilled to be 47........lol, that's a joke, I am happy to be healthy and thankful to be so blessed. Jeff is working and always looking for more work.......he's lucky most of the carpenters he knows don't have much going on. We go to the movies a lot (for the popcorn) and a bike ride now and again. OHHHHHHHHHHHH I took a photo at the Bellevue Cemetery...........look at it and tell me what you think (I think I am done ghost hunting). On that note I will post some photo's and just say thanks for all the Birthday wishes and being so caring, XO.

Congratulations Matt, we love you and couldn't be more proud of you! Matthew graduated from

high school on Wed. evening. He will attend Idaho State University in the fall. Matt is a four year national debate qualifier and while he has always been interested in law he is registered in the pre-dental program ISU offers. At Wood River HS Matt finished the Med Tech and Pharmacy Academy's. He enjoyed working on cadavers and watching procedures at the hospital.

Our little Chloe is not to be forgotten, she graduated from 8th grade and will now join Nicole and Lauren at Wood River HS, congratulations Chloe! Chloe enjoys school and track and has been scouted 5 times now for modeling. At 5' - 10" tall, 97 lbs. and 13 years old she is waaaaay too young but it may be in her future if she's interested.

The rest of the kids are doing well, Nicole will take off soon for the summer and return Sept. 30. Lauren just finished her first musical and did great, is now swimming, in choir, and drama. Sara is busy, my wing man, we stick together! Jeff and I stay busy as usual.

Turkey Day!

So recently a few things have happened with us. We finally had Matt's court of honor, Wed. in our home. Matt spoke to a small group that helped with the project. Matt also had his braces removed after SIX long years. As a mother I was so excited to see him and get his senior photo's

done etc. and he smiled a big grin and there, in the front, one big GREY dead tooth. "Oh I forgot to tell you I got hit in the mouth during a wrestling tournament and DIDN'T HAVE MY MOUTH GUARD IN!!!!" So he enjoyed Thanksgiving feast coming off a root canal in preparation for a bleaching of that front tooth.

We've been going to movies lately, New Moon, The Blind Side. It's been nice spending time together. I cry daily at the thought of My baby boy leaving for college.......he won't consider the

at home online thing? I am enjoying every minute with my kids. We had five in a row, they have entered and finished many stages in life. The diaper stage, the elementary age, the high school,

age, and we're entering the college stage and I am not sure I am ready nor will I ever be. I have really great kids and don't care to share them with the world :( They have other ideas and I will support them.

Well we are of course more thankful than ever for having WORK, a home, food, clothing, all the

basics that we take for granted, we have our Father in Heaven and Savior Jesus Christ to thank

for our blessings. We miss all of our friends and family in CA, AZ, UT, Canada and hope you all had a woderful Thanksgiving!

Girls are champs 5 years in a row! AWESOME!!

Fashion show all proceeds went to the Hunger Coalition.

We had a busy weekend, swim meets, halloween parties, trunk or treating, trick or treating, football games, 400 plus trick or treaters, the town party, haunted houses.............it was all so fun!

Thursday we had the neighbors over and carved pumpkins. We had fun and were all able to be there together which is a rare occasion lately. Friday was trunk or treating and a pasta party for the swim team. Saturday was a swim meet, the girls took 1st's and the boys 3rd. Sara, Chloe and I went to the town Halloween Hoopla. The whole town dresses up and business' hand out candy and do haunted houses and lots of food and drinks, it was a lot of fun. The weather this year couldn't have been more perfect!

School is back in session. Matthew is a Senior, swimming, sats, isats, looking at schools and spending time with friends. Nicole, a Junior met with all her teachers, packed her books and left for NY again with Jeff in tow. Nicole turned 16 in Chicago, the agency sent her home to be with all of us and they sent beautiful flowers, we decorated and she missed a connecting flight by 5 minutes and we didn't celebrate until Laurens birthday......it was all messed up but turned out fine. This week she will be meeting with everyone, phillip lim, marc jacobs, lacoste, etc.....hopefully she'll book some jobs. Lauren is a Freshman, swimmer, tennis, drama class, choir/piano, all around busy girl, is kind of obsessed with clothes and likes to dress nice. Chloe, 8th grade, bored with school, loves photography, went to the temple for the first time Saturday with Lauren and got a lot of work done and she enjoyed the peace she found there. Sara, spent Friday at the temple, celebrating President Monson's Birthday. Sara loves middle school, and enjoys the fact she is with Chloe at school. Sara is playing the flute in band and will start year round swim soon. Jeff is busy with work and Nicole. I am busy with babies and my job as mom. I am getting very excited about football, halloween and everything that goes with fall, my favorite season.

We were thrilled to have our family join us for the 4th of July. Jeff's sister Cheryl, her husband Steve and their son Chris came in from CA. Grandpa Bruce, Grandma Kathy, Daisy and their newest addition the ADORABLE Owen came in from AZ. The 6 adults went to Laurens concert

"A Tribute to America" at the Sun Valley Pavillion on Friday night, we enjoyed watching Lauren and other teens from Idaho and Logan Utah perform with, Maureen McGovern, Daniel Beck and Jessie Clark Funk (Lauren is on stage to the right). The weekend included lots of fun activities,

antique fairs, parades, Grandma Kathy took Sara and I to breakfast at the 50's diner "Shorty's",

we walked the dogs, enjoyed the neighborhood party, went to the pool, the boys did some shooting, and we made s'mores while we watched the fireworks, played games, and visited our infamous Big Wood River that is flowing so high this year we can't enjoy fly fishing or floating yet

(hopefully soon though).

Our kids keep growing up, Lauren will starting High School in the fall and Sara will be in Middle School. Matthew will be a senior (ugghhh!) and Nicole a junior. Chloe will be in 8th grade looking out for her other half, Sara, they are so excited to be going to the same school again. We've been told a million times enjoy them, they grow up so fast.............it's so true. We are proud of all of them, they have accomplished so much this year.

Our Victory Garden!

Our growing season in Hailey is short. We've been told never to plant before Memorial Day. So

this morning my little Sara and I went to the nursery for some supplies and got right to work. We planted tomatoes, beans, carrots, cucumbers, pumpkins and more pumkins. Anyone who knows us knows the pumkins are the most important. Thank you to our neighbor Jane for stopping bye and giving us a few tips (Janes garden is awesome!) Our garden is small but we enjoy what we get and are able to share with our neighbors too. Sara and I had a great morning planting our garden. We will be sure to post our harvest in the fall. We should have taken a photo of our cemetery today. A new entrance was built and it looked great today with the flags and flowers at all the graves. We are thankful for our troops and veterans past and present, God Bless them all. Hope everyone had a great weekend! Chloe thanks for taking the photo's today.

Last night Sara did a great job playing the part of "Susan, the girl that didn't know about Jazz

music". We enjoyed watching Sara and learning about the History of Jazz music in our country.

My husband Jeff is a very interesting guy. I have to blog about his workout habits. He has worked out regularly throughout our marriage. He had a short set back due to a leg injury in 1999 but was back at it in no time. Anyhow the reason I mention this is last Friday he said, I am

doing the Boulder Mountain Tour tomorrow (SAT). I said wow! It's a 20 mile xcountry ski race.

While he has been doing some spin classes and Yoga lately he certainly has not prepared for this

race. Others in this race prepare all year for it. I said "have fun, it was nice knowing you", our

neighbor brought a massage machine over. Jeff left Saturday, did the race, finished in his age

group, and really hasn't been that sore at all. Considering how much I hate to work out he really

impresses me with all that he does. For those of you who know him, picture Jeff on his head in a

yoga class, yep he can do all that stuff and he does. Way to go Jeff, I'll be right behind ya, (don't hold your breath though).

Ida Marin

I went to California this past weekend to say goodbye to Ida Marin. Ida was like a second mother to me. I grew up two doors down from Ida. Her daughter Annette is one of my closest friends.

I met Ida and Annette when I was three years old. Looking back at 42 years of friendship I can

honestly say Ida did so much for me and I really can't remember ever doing anything for Ida. I did write her a letter a while back letting her know the positive impact she had on my life. I am

glad I did that as I didn't expect her to die yet. She has always been there for me and all who knew her. You could stop by Ida's anytime to visit, talk or get advice. She would invite you in,

make you a plate of food and ask you how you've been. She was a great listener, a loving Mother

to her children, and the neighborhood children also. At times my own Mother would be ill and

Ida would always say "Marther (she had an accent), Marther how is your Mother"? I've been

praying for her". Ida did so much for me I could never mention it all. She just did kind things

because it was the right thing to do. I never heard Ida complain. Ida had a way of highlighting

everything good about you and your life so when you left her you just felt a whole lot better

even if you had been feeling down. I will never forget the endless supply of oreo's, velveeta cheese, sneeking her oil of olay lotion with Annette, her awesome taco's, how she would have me bend down so she could kiss my cheek, her sitting in her chair everyday to read the Bible,

and all the ways she is and will continue to be a positive influence in my life. Ida you will be missed but never forgotten.

It's time to give thanks. We are thankful for our family, friends, health, home, jobs, food, the

men and women fighting for the freedom we enjoy, this beautiful valley we call home now

and all of our blessings. We realize we are blessed because we have the gospel in our lives, we

can't imagine and don't want to think of our lives without the gospel.

We've finished the feast we all worked so hard on all day and are now relaxing in our p.j.'s.

We're humoring Jeff and pretending to enjoy watching Animal Planet with him :)

OH, OH, OOPS! did I forget to say Edward......with 4 pre-teen/teen girls in the house we of

course cannot forget we are thankful for Edward. We've been to midnight showings, regular

showings and will go to Twilight again this holiday weekend I am sure.

We hope everyone had the opportunity to count their blessings today and will continue to do

so often, to take a minute slow down, cherish the simple things in your life. Our lives are

so busy and change quickly keep your eyes peeled and don't miss a thing!

Trick or Treat!

We hope everyone had a great Halloween. The kids had parties at their schools. After school

they spent the afternoon with some of our tiny neighbors walking around Main St., all the business' have treats, music, food and games. Back at home we had dinner and everyone split up

for the evening. Matt and Nicole went to the neighbors to help with their little kids. Lauren and

I handed out candy, actually Lauren handed out candy while I watched TAPS aka Ghost Hunters. We had over 300 Trick or Treaters. Jeff took Chloe, Sara and their friends out Trick or Treating.

The weather was perfect this year, not too cold, it was a fun evening for everyone.

Jessie & Pauls Wedding

We were thrilled to go to CA, see friends and family and go to my niece Jessie's wedding. Jessie

looked so beautiful as she went down the isle. I couldn't help but reflect on her life, that chubby

infant, blonde little toddler, beautiful little flower girl in my wedding, skinny teen, young

adult finding her way and now Pauls beautiful Bride..........Jess we are so proud of you, we love

you so much. It's always great to see my sister Susie, she is and has always been an overachiever

and perfectionist, this wedding was no exception..........GREAT JOB SUSIE!!!!!!! everything was

perfect.

We stayed with our friends the Harries in their beautiful home. My friend Lisa Harries shares

my love for Halloween, Disneyland and staying up talking. Her family is amazing and a great

example to us, we had a blast.
